Shorts Manufacturing in Karachi
From our yarn,every pair
From lightweight performance polyester athletic shorts at 140 GSM through to heavyweight brushed fleece streetwear shorts at 420 GSM, our shorts programme covers men's and women's silhouettes across the activewear, loungewear, and streetwear pillars. Apex Corporation has been knitting shorts in our North Karachi factory since 1984, on the same circular machines and sewing lines that produce our t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, polo shirts, and trousers. Buyers across fifteen export markets spec sweat shorts, athletic shorts, cargo shorts, lounge shorts, biker shorts, and booty shorts to their tech packs at our 100-piece minimum. The line splits across three retail pillars: Activewear, Loungewear, and Streetwear, each with its own GSM band, fabric leans, and construction defaults.
Six DSK circular knitting machines run our greige fabric in-house, putting 2,400 kilograms a day onto rolls in French terry, brushed cotton fleece, single jersey, interlock, and performance polyester tricot. Each roll passes through shrinkage and GSM testing before it touches a cutting table. From there it routes through Juki and Siruba sewing lines that handle everything shorts ask of them: encased elastic waistbands or wide compression waistbands, drawcords in flat tape or round cord with metal aglets or silicone tips, mesh boxer brief liners or stretch mesh liners for athletic shorts, side seam pockets, cargo pockets with button flaps, welt back pockets, zip security pockets, all bartacked at the openings. Labels go in woven, satin, or tagless heat transfer to your spec. We run OEM and ODM only. Your brand on every garment, never ours. Tech pack or reference sample, both routes lead to the same bulk.
The minimum order is 100 pieces per style per colour, and the first sample is free, ready in 3 to 5 working days. Bulk runs from tech pack to FOB Karachi in 60 to 75 days against our monthly capacity of 50,000 pieces across every knitted category we manufacture. Send us your tech pack and we will quote a delivery window that matches your launch date.

Men's, Women's, Across Three Pillars
One shorts manufacturer,three different briefs
Shorts split into three retail pillars and they all run on the same factory floor. Activewear shorts are spec'd by athletic and team-kit brands, where the construction is about stretch, mesh liners, and the technical details that buyers care about for sport. Loungewear shorts are the everyday volume programme, sweat shorts and lounge cuts that retail brands order in repeat runs season after season. Streetwear shorts are the fashion specs, heavyweight French terry, dropped silhouettes, and the women's booty and biker cuts that fashion brands ask for. Each pillar lives at a different GSM tier with its own fabric and construction defaults. Pull a silhouette from the lists below or send a tech pack. Every shorts style is built as custom knitwear, made to order against your spec.

Yarn, Knit & Weight
Pick a yarn,pick a knit, pick a weight
Every shorts fabric is knit in-house on our DSK circular machines, then finished at our partner mill and tested for shrinkage and weight before it touches a cutting table. Shorts run lighter than trousers because they cover less leg, so the weight tiers are tuned shorter. Pick a yarn blend from the list, a construction type from the grid, and a target GSM tier. Custom dye runs from 150 kg per colour. MOQ 100 pieces per style per colour.

Construction Details
Stitch by stitch, how we build a pair
Shorts construction differs from other knitted garments because the leg opening, the liner, and the waistband all behave differently in a shorter cut. Shorts construction is about three things: how the waist holds, how the leg opens, and what's inside the leg. Activewear shorts get mesh boxer brief liners, flatlock seams that don't chafe, and bonded edges where the buyer asks for them. Loungewear shorts get encased elastic with drawcords, side seam pockets, and coverstitched hems for clean retail finish. Streetwear shorts get heavyweight construction, side flap cargo pockets, and the bartack-reinforced openings that fashion brands spec for durability. Specify your construction in the tech pack, or pull from the defaults below.

Printing & Accessories
Branding shorts,printed, embroidered, labelled, packed
Apex coordinates branding for every shorts order through our specialist partners across Karachi: screen printers, embroidery houses, label and trim suppliers. Shorts branding tends to live on the hip, side leg, waistband, and cargo flap, with logo type and placement chosen at sample stage. Athletic shorts also brand inside on the liner, where many performance buyers want their logo. Send artwork with the tech pack and we handle the rest, or read the methods below before you spec.
Printing & Branding Methods
Screen printing leads shorts branding: leg prints, side stripes, hip logos, with plastisol or water-based inks at 500 pieces and above. Embroidery is more common on shorts than trousers because hip logos and waistband logos sit at the right size for embroidery to read well, running flat stitch, 3D puff, or multi-thread up to 12 colours. Sublimation is the standard for basketball, team kit, and any 100% polyester performance shorts where the spec calls for all-over print. Heat transfer vinyl handles athletic numbers, names, and side stripes on team and training shorts. DTF covers full-colour artwork on all GSMs and fabric types, no minimum colour count. Plastisol transfers handle spot logos for short reorder runs. DTG works on lighter cotton fleece between 220 and 300 GSM but is not recommended on heavy brushed fleece.
Accessories & Trims
Drawcords are where most shorts branding lives outside of prints. Flat tape with metal aglets is the streetwear default. Round cord with silicone tips reads cleaner on lounge shorts. Custom-shaped cord stoppers are spec'd on premium fashion ranges. Waistband elastic runs plain or branded jacquard if your spec calls for an exposed waistband look, common on women's bike shorts. Liners come in mesh boxer brief, stretch mesh, or compression knit, brand-labelled inside at the waistband. Zippers are coil or invisible, sourced from major Karachi-stocked brands, used on welt back pockets and security pockets. Branded labels go in at the waistband interior, side seam, or hem, woven for premium retail or heat-transferred for tagless. Patches sew or heat-apply in woven, embroidered, PVC, or leather. Hangtags and packaging run on the standard retail spec sheet. Paper or fabric tags, polybagged individually or bulk, boxed if your buyer wants it.
Shorts Manufacturing Process
Eight steps, tech pack to FOB Karachi
Apex shorts orders move through eight production stages, four for sampling and four for bulk. The hand-off between them is sample approval: your physical pre-production sample ships to your inbox, you sign it off in writing, and only then does bulk fabric get committed. The whole workflow runs from one Karachi facility, sharing 50,000 pieces of monthly capacity with the rest of our knitted garment programme.
Tech Pack & Quotation
Buyer sends tech pack with GSM range, fabric blend, quantity, target price, and any special construction notes for liners or waistbands. Apex reviews feasibility, sources fabric or yarn, and returns an FOB quotation.
Sample Development
Pattern development across waistband, leg, hem, and liner panels (for athletic shorts), then cutting and sewing of first sample. 3 to 5 days for normal samples, 10 to 14 days for custom yarn or fabric work.
Sample Revisions
Revision rounds refine fit through hip, leg, and waistband, plus liner attachment and branding placement to spec.
Sample Approval & PPS
Pre-production sample shipped for final fit, GSM, liner construction, and finish review. Written buyer sign-off lands in our inbox before bulk cutting begins.
Fabric Knitting & Finishing
Bulk yarn knitted on our DSK circular machines, then dyed at our partner mill, washed, and compacted to your approved GSM. Each roll passes shrinkage and weight testing before it leaves the finishing line.
Bulk Cutting & Sewing
Multi-layer cutting on graded markers, assembly-line sewing across overlock, coverstitch, flatlock, and bartack stations. 50,000 pieces monthly across the knit programme.
Branding & Quality Control
Printing, embroidery, drawcord aglets, jacquard waistband elastic, and labels applied per your tech pack. Final QC against the approved sample, ironing, and tagging before packing.
Packing & Dispatch
Folded, polybagged, cartoned to spec, and loaded for FOB Karachi or CNF/CIF per your terms.
What Buyers Ask Before They Order
The questions international buyers raise most often when sourcing knitted shorts from a Pakistan-based manufacturer.
Apex builds knit shorts in-house: sweat shorts, athletic shorts, lounge shorts, biker shorts, and booty shorts. Woven shorts like board shorts and chinos are accepted on special request and built in the same factory.
Yes, athletic and compression shorts get a diamond gusset at the crotch as standard, which prevents split seams under stretch. Hexagonal and single-panel gussets are available on request if your spec calls for them.
Yes, basketball shorts run tricot mesh shell with tricot mesh inner liner sewn at the waistband and side seams, free at the hem. Buyers can spec the liner colour to match or contrast the shell.
Body and side-panel fabric for one style are knit and dyed together as a single dye-lot to lock the match within and across the bulk run. Cross-dye-lot panels are flagged at QC and rejected before cutting if shade variance exceeds your approved swatch tolerance.
Sublimation prints panels before construction, cut-and-sewn after to keep print quality at seams and corners. Standard shrinkage allowance is 3 to 5% across width and length, factored into pattern grading before printing.
Cotton-spandex, polyester-spandex, and nylon-spandex are all knit in-house on our DSK circular machines from yarn we hold to order. Standard MOQ 100 pieces per style per colour applies across all stretch fabric programmes.
