You bring the tech pack
You've already done the design work. The tech pack is finished, the patterns are drawn, the measurements are signed off. What you need now is a factory that reads your spec the way you wrote it, and then builds it. That's what OEM at Apex looks like. Send the tech pack; we take it from there to FOB Karachi.
Every OEM order at Apex starts the same way: your tech pack lands with our production team, and we read it line by line before we quote. Every line of the spec gets checked against what we can actually source and produce in Karachi, yarn count, fabric structure, GSM, every measurement on the panels. If anything in the tech pack is unclear or hard to source locally, we flag it before sampling, not after.
Once the tech pack is approved, the work behind the scenes begins. Yarn is sourced to the exact count and composition you specified. Fabric is knitted on our DSK circular knitting machines, then dyed and tested for shrinkage and GSM accuracy before any cutting starts. The first sample is built from the same fabric we'll use in bulk, not a substitute, so what you approve is what you receive. Bulk production runs with in-line stitching checks at every machine, and the finished order is inspected against AQL standards at packing. AQL is the international sampling method exporters use to define the maximum number of allowable defects in a shipment. Buyers familiar with garment sourcing will already know the term. If a buyer wants to send a third-party inspector for an additional check before shipment, the door is open.
OEM at Apex is the right path if you have an internal design team, a finalized tech pack, and a clear specification you need built without deviation. Most of our OEM buyers are established fashion brands, retailers running private-label programs, and buying houses sourcing for downstream clients across Europe, North America, Australia, and the Middle East. If that sounds like your situation, send the tech pack. We'll send back a quote within forty-eight hours.

ODM, Original Design Manufacturing
You bring the idea
You know what you want to make, but the tech pack doesn't exist yet. Maybe you have reference images, mood boards, a target price point, and a rough sense of fit, but no patterns, no measurements, no specs. That's where ODM at Apex comes in. Our design team builds the tech pack from your brief, our pattern team translates that tech pack into samples, and the line is manufactured under your label.
ODM at Apex starts with a conversation, not a tech pack. You bring whatever you have, sketches, reference garments, photos of fits you like, a description of the buyer you're designing for. Our design team works through it with you, figuring out the fabric weight and fit, getting the construction and price point right for the buyer you have in mind. The output of that conversation is a finished tech pack, the same document an OEM buyer would arrive with on day one. Once you sign it off, our pattern team takes over, drafts the patterns by hand, cuts the first sample, and puts the finished garment in front of you for review.
What happens next depends on the brief, but the rhythm is the same. The first sample arrives with a measurement report and the tech pack we built around your vision. You give feedback, the sleeve is too long, the GSM should be lighter, the neckline needs to sit closer, and we revise. Each revision round produces a new physical sample, not just a sketch, so you're approving the actual garment, not a drawing of it. When the sample is signed off, we move to bulk production with the same quality discipline as any OEM order, in-line inspection at the machines, AQL inspection at packing, and third-party inspection welcomed if your team wants an additional check before shipment.
ODM at Apex is the right path if you're a DTC founder launching your first collection, a retailer building a private-label range without an internal design team, or a brand expanding into knitwear from another category. You bring the vision and the buyer in mind. We bring the pattern, the sample, and the manufacturing.
Every ODM order includes
- Brief review and consultation
- Design sketches and concept development
- Tech pack creation by our design team
- Free first sample with measurement report
- Up to three revision rounds before bulk
- Bulk production with in-line inspection
- AQL packing inspection
- Third-party inspection welcomed
- FOB Karachi shipment

From inquiry to FOB Karachi
Custom Knitwear Manufacturing, Karachi, Pakistan
Apex builds for four kinds of buyers
Custom knitwear orders at Apex come from buyers in different situations, some arrive with finished tech packs, others with a brief and a buyer in mind. Find the one that sounds like yours.
You have a brand and a vision but no tech pack, sketches, mood boards, a target retail price, but nothing a factory can quote against. Apex's design team builds the tech pack from your brief, and that development work isn't a billable add-on. It's how every ODM order starts.
You're building a private-label range under your store's name. Apex works from a finished tech pack or a category brief, whatever you walk in with, and your customer never sees the factory behind the garment.
You source for multiple buyers and need a factory whose response times and quality discipline don't drift between orders. Apex has been exporting knitted garments since 1984. Eight Heimtextil exhibitions, direct factory communication, third-party inspection welcomed on every order.
For Custom Knitwear Development
Why buyers choose Apex for custom development
Six things Apex does on custom orders that most factories in Pakistan don't.
In-house design
No outsourced design work
Many factories rely on freelance pattern masters or external design houses for ODM development. Apex's design team works on-site, the people who quote your order are the people who turn your brief into a tech pack.
Same-fabric sampling
No substitutes between sample and bulk
First samples at Apex are built from the exact fabric we'll use in bulk, not from approximate fabric kept in the sample room. What you approve is the garment that arrives in the carton.
Direct conversation
Designer to buyer, no relay
When you're developing a product from scratch, you can't afford a game of telephone. Buyers at Apex talk directly with the design team during ODM development, not through a sales account manager passing notes back and forth.
Honest sample fees
Credited toward bulk on every order
First sample is free. Revisions are charged, but if the order proceeds to bulk, every sample fee you've paid gets credited against your final invoice. You only pay for samples on orders that don't move forward.
IP protected from day one
What you bring stays inside the factory
NDAs are signed before any tech pack discussion begins. Designs developed for one buyer are never shown to another. Mood boards, sketches, and finished samples stay off our social media and marketing channels by default.
Two-week sample turnaround
10–14 days on most ODM development
Most factories quote 4–6 weeks for ODM development samples because design, pattern-cutting, and sampling are sequential and often outsourced. At Apex, all three happen in-house and overlap. First sample lands in 10–14 days on most ODM orders.
What Buyers Ask Before They Order
The questions buyers raise most often when commissioning custom knitwear from Apex.
Sample lead time is 5–14 days. From first inquiry to FOB Karachi is typically 60–75 days, and sea freight to most US, EU, UK, and Australian ports adds three to five weeks on top.
Apex builds fully to your specification, but for buyers focused on cost, especially at the 100-piece minimum, we can work from fabric Apex already has in stock, with the same shrinkage, GSM, and dyeing checks as any custom-knitted roll. Standard market trims also keep unit cost down without compromising the finish.
Apex sources yarn from 14s to 40s in combed cotton, blends, and recycled cotton, knit into Single Jersey, Interlock, Fleece, Thermal, Pique, and any other knitwear structure on request. Custom yarn or custom-dyed fabric requires a minimum of 150 kg per color.
Pattern-making and grading are handled in-house at Apex by our own pattern masters, drafted from the approved sample. Buyers can supply their own graded measurement spec sheet, or we'll grade against standard US, UK, or EU country size specifications.
Apex sources high-quality trims, zippers, drawcords, buttons, woven and printed labels, preferring vetted Karachi suppliers we work with regularly. Trims from China or Hong Kong are sourced on buyer request when the order calls for it.
Before any bulk fabric is cut, Apex sends a pre-production sample built on the production line with the bulk fabric and approved trims. The buyer signs off in writing, that signed sample becomes the reference for AQL inspection on the bulk run.
